Novotel Ningaloo ResortMadaffari Dve, Exmouth - Current Commission
Located in the town of Exmouth, some 1,200 kms north of Perth, the Novotel Ningaloo Resort is situated on the beach front, overlooking Sunrise Beach.
The brief for the project was to create a resort that embodied and embraced the characteristics of this unique location. These were to be integrated with the key elements of ‘quality’ and ‘casualness’.
The design and construction methodology adopted for the project was influenced by the location, key factors being material durability, maintenance, sustainability, bulk, transportability and labour availability. This resulted in a palette of rammed earth, corrugated steel and aluminium.
The built form of the resort has a strong horizontal emphasis, the buildings sitting gently on the site, not imposing themselves or dominating their setting. The completed resort provides tourists and the local community alike with a high standard of accommodation and a memorable venue for dining, weddings, conferences and special events.
